Wonderful article. I too suffered from debilitating chronic symptoms starting when was 19. Back then there was not much holistic healing available and doctors labeled me "crazy". It's a blessing that you are offering this kind of support.

Another resource which might be helpful is relating to our environment when we are ill. I find that we often reflect our illness and hopelessness in our homes and particularly in our bedrooms - precisely the place we need to rejuvenate. Changing the vibration of our home from illness to one of wholeness can support our fundamental well being and connect us to the parts of ourselves that are beyond our illness.

Thank you so much for this great article. I wish I had written it myself. It expresses so much of what I believe about how the meaning we make of our experience can help us heal (or keep us stuck!).

You might be interested in the story I posted on my new blog. It compares endurance stories of people with CFS and adventurers facing the harsh wilderness. I derive great inspiration from these stories of endurance. http://www.jenniferlunden.com/

it's wonderful to reframe the perception of illness as failure, that we have done something 'wrong',that we are uselsss. Have had ten years of chronic illness including cancer and see it as an initiation..having maps and tools and seeing it as a shamanic joureny did indeed save my life. I am currently writing a book at also working on an interactive arts piece seeing it indeed as a descent into the underworld where we receive a precious gift. I really enjoyed reading this and will visit your site. Blessings

DANCING IN THE RAIN

Illness
once
hung
on these
shoulders
wearily
grey
as the day
was long
I was
not
living
not
how
I imagined
it.....
time
my great
friend and healer
showed
me a
new way
finally
I allowed
the grief
to wash
over
me
eventually
this storm
eased
now
grace
takes me
gently
by the hand
shows me
now...
how to dance
in the....rain
